About the museum

Vodovodov is an interactive exhibition on water supply in the grounds of the waterworks in Hradec Králové. It opened in autumn 2020. The content and graphics were prepared by the company Královéhradecká provozní, a.s., and the construction work was carried out by Vodovody a kanalizace Hradec Králové (the local water and sewerage utility). The exhibition is housed in a converted building on the company's premises, where company events and training are also held.

Its aim is to show, in a clear and playful way, how drinking water is obtained and treated, how wastewater is cleaned and how the water supply infrastructure works. At the same time, visitors are meant to realise how valuable water is and why it must be protected. The exhibition also includes a look at the history of water supply in Hradec Králové and the surrounding area from around the 15th century to the present.

The tour passes through several parts. In the bright section the theme is water in nature; in the dark section, water in industry, with projections and a dispatcher game; and in the section Voda hrou (Water Through Play) visitors can try out experiments and digital simulations. The last room is for reflection and for comparing the results of the groups. The exhibition is aimed at the general public, especially school groups and children.
