About the museum

Bornholms Tekniske Samling was founded in 1999 and is still run by volunteers today. It is owned by the association Bornholms Tekniske Samling S/I. Most of the collection was donated by private individuals; the museum collects machines, household goods, furniture, vehicles and other objects related to Bornholm.

The museum is based at Østre Borregård near Rutsker, an old farm that formerly belonged to the administrative district of Hammershus. Across roughly 4,000 square meters, numbered departments are spread out, through which visitors move at their own pace – from crafts, service trades, lace-making and a computer room to farming, engines and model railways, to radio, photography and transport.

Among the most striking pieces are a Saab Draken on loan from the Danish Air Force, the complete Poulsker Elværk, a KZ-3 sports aircraft, fire engines and a ceramics collection with over 6,000 cups. Historic living rooms are furnished in the Stuehuset, and outdoors there are, among other things, a transformer tower and agricultural equipment. Unlike in many museums, numerous objects may be touched.
