About the museum

The Landbomuseet Lundekrog lies on the country road between Lille Skensved and Ejby, about 8 km west of Køge. At the entrance, two large straw figures, "Jens & Marie Halm," greet visitors; behind them lies a four-winged farmstead that houses the museum. It is run by a museum association with about 150 members, of whom around 20 volunteer their time at the museum.

On a total of about 2,000 m² – of which around 1,000 m² is exhibition space indoors and 400 m² outdoors, half of it covered – the association displays several thousand objects from about 1840 to 1950, when the tractor replaced the horse. The core is a large collection of agricultural tools. On the upper floor, small village workshops have been recreated, such as a brush maker, wheelwright, saddler, and barber, along with a grocer's shop and a schoolroom from around 1940.

Other sections are devoted to household goods, washing machines from the washboard to the modern machine, irons, the electrification of the country, beer brewing, candle dipping, forestry, peat cutting, and drainage. Also on view are old horse-drawn wagons and harvesting equipment, a model of a dairy from around 1930, the old forge from Vedskølle, embroidery and folk costumes, farmhouse furniture, dolls and old toys, and a large collection of small steam engines.
