Memory Lane Rockmuseum
Rock, pop, and youth museum in the Fuglsøcentret near Knebel with memorabilia on music and youth culture from the 1950s to today.
About the museum
The Memory Lane Rockmuseum opened on October 1, 2014, and describes itself as Denmark's first rock, pop, and youth museum. It is housed in the hotel and course center Fuglsøcentret on Mols, which lies in the middle of Mols Bjerge National Park, about 12 km from Ebeltoft.
The foundation is the collection of the rock historian, author, and hobby musician Poul Nowack from Grenaa; to this is added the radio collection of Per Rasmus Møller. On view are objects related to international stars such as the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Elvis, ABBA, Queen, and Michael Jackson as well as to Danish musicians from the Hitmakers and Gasolin to Aqua and Jørgen de Mylius. Among the best-known pieces are the maracas that Mick Jagger used at the Rolling Stones concert at the Falkoner Centret in København in 1965.
The museum also tells of youth life over several decades: clothing, film and concert posters, records, young adult books and pop magazines, things from teenagers' rooms, as well as themes such as youth revolt, hippies, and Provos. A small section is devoted to the Melodi Grand Prix and Dansktop music, and a large specialized section to old radios, tape recorders, gramophones, and televisions.
