About the museum
The Eesti Huumorimuuseum (Estonian Humour Museum) was founded in 2016 in the former school building in Purku village, Rapla rural municipality. The museum collects, preserves and exhibits humour-related objects: caricatures, magazines, books, films, records, DVDs, cassettes, cards, badges and stamps. The collection holds about 5,000 original works.
The museum organises humour evenings, caricature workshops and caricature competitions, for example the international competition “BUSSIGA”. The permanent exhibition is being updated, and works that caused a scandal or were never published are displayed separately. The driving force behind the Eesti Huumorimuuseum is Andrus Tamm.
