About the museum
The Nõmme Museum was founded on 13 November 1935 and worked in the rooms of today’s Nõmme music school until it was closed in 1940. The museum was re-established in the waiting room and ticket office of Nõmme’s historic railway station on 28 February 2002.
The permanent exhibition shows the development of Nõmme as an independent town in 1926–1940 and earlier years, from the founding of Nõmme by Nikolai von Glehn at the end of the 19th century. The exhibits were collected from Nõmme residents and supplemented with the holdings of the Tallinn City Museum, which kept the collections of the first Nõmme museum. The museum has two exhibition halls, and temporary exhibitions are also held.
