About the museum

The museum opened its doors on 10 June 2023. The idea of collecting arose in 2004, when the founder, while working at a telecom company, saw old communications equipment ending up on the rubbish tip. The collection includes a 1969 telephone exchange, a crossbar switch, telephone sets, radio telephones, payphones and payphone booths, overhead lines, and laptops and desktop computers from 1980 onwards. The museum is run by the non-profit association MTÜ Side ja Laptopi Muuseum; the construction of a new museum building is supported through supporter tickets.
