About the museum
The Alvar Aallon ateljee (Alvar Aalto Studio) was completed in 1955 as the workplace of Aalto’s architectural office, and an extension was built in 1963. The studio is in Munkkiniemi, a short walk from the Aalto family home on Riihitie. Many of Aalto’s best-known buildings were designed in the office.
The building belongs to the Aalto ensemble of 13 sites designed by Alvar, Aino and Elissa Aalto, which is on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The studio’s rooms are lit by natural light and furnished with Aalto furniture.
The visit is made on a guided tour, which tells the story of the office, its architecture and its design. After the guided part, visitors can explore the premises at their own pace.
