About the museum

La Casemate was founded in 1979 as an association, on the initiative of representatives from universities, research centres and local authorities. It is considered the first institution of its kind created in France.

Since January 1, 2021, it has been part of Territoire de sciences, a public cultural cooperation body. The team of about twenty people aims to make science and innovation accessible to all audiences.

The venue offers regularly changing interactive exhibitions and workshops, meetings with researchers, and coordinates the Fête de la science in Isère. Upstairs, a Fab Lab provides machines such as 3D printers and laser cutters, with the help of mediators, and a showroom displays projects made on site or by local companies.
