About the museum

The Centre d’interprétation Marne 14-18 is located in Suippes, on the former Champagne front, at the crossroads of the Verdun battlefields and the Chemin des Dames. It offers a lively and humanistic presentation of the First World War, based on a rich collection of images and numerous testimonies left by soldiers and civilians.

The 600 m² route is organized into seven scenographic spaces. Each room covers one theme: the march to war, the great offensives, the organization of the medical service, life at the rear and reconstruction. Particular attention is paid to the consequences of the war for the Suippes region and its inhabitants.

The center has had an education service since 2012, which hosts a relay teacher (professeur relais) provided by the Éducation nationale, as well as an online educational space. It also offers an escape game, “Le Bataillon perdu”, as well as a bookshop and museum shop and a tourist information point at the reception.
