About the museum

The Centre du patrimoine arménien, also known as Le Cpa, was created in 2005 by the city of Valence. In 2010 it came under the responsibility of the agglomeration, and it is now a cultural facility of Valence Romans Agglo. Works allowed it to reopen in September 2018 with new spaces.

The centre uses the Armenian experience to address more broadly the history of peoples and cultures. It presents the Armenian diaspora alongside other contemporary migrations, fights discrimination and promotes living together, offers insights into questions of memory and current conflicts, and contributes to research.

The permanent exhibition traces, as a continuous route, the history of the Armenians who came to settle in Valence in the 1920s. Thematic focuses broaden the subject to diasporas, genocides and integration. Each year, temporary exhibitions complement the offer, and the centre also receives donations of archives.
