About the museum

The écomusée is set on the Domaine des Bessons in Migron, owned by the Tesseron family. According to the estate, the écomusée was founded in 1989 and tells the story of the family home, which dates back to 1850. The objects, tools and machines on display belong to the family.

The visit begins with an audiovisual show on three screens tracing two thousand years of cognac history, and with a bilingual French–English exhibition. The Musée du Vigneron-Bouilleur de crus then presents six reconstructed rooms: a Saintonge interior, vineyard work before and after the phylloxera crisis, a wine cellar with an old wine press, and an edge-tool forge (taillanderie). Visitors then pass through the distillery, where the estate explains the double distillation of the Charentes and the “part of the angels.”

A former brandy cellar houses perfume organs, which introduce visitors to the aromas of cognac and pineau des Charentes, with a discovery game for children. Other spaces present vine grafting and the making of a barrel. After a trip to Cuba in 2000, Patrick Tesseron also created exhibitions on Havana, coffee and chocolate. A 200 m² area displays vintage cars and motorcycles, as well as tractors from the 1950s and 1960s. The visit ends with a tasting of the estate's products.
