About the museum
La Poudrière is a former powder store built in 1580 inside the fortified walls of Navarrenx, near the ramparts and the bridge spanning the Gave d’Oloron.
The building now houses an exhibition that recalls how it worked, its purpose and its importance within a fortified Renaissance town. The site is open to the public during the warm season, from April 15 to November 15, 2026, and admission is free.
