About the museum
The Affabuloscope museum presents the work of the artist Claudius de Cap Blanc: over 650 works, objects and installations, the fruit of thirty years of creation. It is located in Le Mas-d'Azil, in the Ariège department, in a former furniture factory a short distance from the Mas d'Azil cave.
The exhibition spans three levels. It brings together surrealist and poetic machines, whimsical finds and wholly invented inventors. Revisiting prehistory and anthropology, the artist has also imagined myths that seem truer than life. The permanent collection is organised into ensembles such as the machine room, the eccentric bicycles, the story of Judas, the story of tears, or dual cosmogony.
The association “Les Affabulés” looks after the museum and keeps Claudius de Cap Blanc's works alive. The museum also hosts shows, concerts and lectures. A small bookshop sells the artist's books, and a relaxation area offers a place to take a break.
