About the museum
The museum is housed in the former church of Saint-Étienne, built in the 14th century, which is the oldest church in Honfleur. It stands on the Vieux Bassin, on the Quai Saint-Étienne, and is no longer used for worship.
The collections come from gifts and bequests. They include ship models, prints and various objects that illustrate maritime life and the society of Honfleur in the 18th and 19th centuries: fishing, shipbuilding, large-scale trade and the trades linked to the sea.
