About the museum

The museum displays a collection of dolls and antique toys in the Château de Robersart, in Wambrechies, north-west of Lille. It describes itself as a place for children of all ages, where toys are shown within a setting rather than isolated in display cases.

The toys are presented against a backdrop of postcards of local and national history spanning a century. The scenes respect scale, materials and periods. Visitors move from late 19th-century porcelain dolls to the first Barbies of the 1960s, with their trousseaux, tableware and household items.

Other areas show electric trains, Citroën cars, lead soldiers, Radiguet and Bing boats, as well as a miniature farm. The museum also organises themed exhibitions, for example on toys of the First World War, and each year in September it hosts the Eurotoy international fair devoted to antique toys.
