About the museum
The museum tells the story of almost two centuries of innovation in telecommunications. The route begins with the Chappe telegraph, moves on to the Morse telegraph, the telephone and the radio, and then reaches mobile phones, submarine cables and optical fibre.
Visits are led by enthusiastic volunteers, who operate objects and give demonstrations to show how these inventions changed everyday life. One highlight is the collection of radios, from crystal sets to the first transistor models.
After works at its original site on rue Derain, the museum has been open to visitors since April 2018 in new premises: 30 rue de Hurtevent, place de la Victoire, in Marcq-en-Barœul.
