About the museum
The museum belongs to the Société archéologique et historique de la Charente and occupies a mid-19th-century townhouse in Angoulême, whose interior resembles that of a private collector.
The rooms display faience from Angoulême and elsewhere, Limousin enamels from the Middle Ages, the Renaissance and the 17th and 18th centuries, glassware, pewter and wrought iron. Two galleries bring together Gallo-Roman and medieval carved stone, including Romanesque capitals and elements from abbeys and the cathedral, some of which are displayed in the garden.
Visits are free, by appointment, with or without a guide.
