About the museum
The museum occupies a former water mill whose existence is documented since 1466 and which still grinds wheat. It is the only mill in the former Nord-Pas-de-Calais region to have kept its two overshot wheels, each about three metres in diameter.
In Felleries, the surrounding forests long supplied the wood for boissellerie, that is, the making of turned wooden objects. In the 19th century this work took on an industrial scale, with the production of bobbins and taps. The museum shows this history of the village through household objects, items linked to rural and industrial life, traditional games, tools and photographs from 1880 to 1900.
The permanent display was redesigned in 2007. The visit shows the mill in operation and explains the development of woodturning lathes; it ends with a woodturning demonstration.
