About the museum

Sars-Poteries is a village in the Avesnois region that lived to the rhythm of its glassworks for more than a century. The Nord department opened the MusVerre there on October 1, 2016, in a building clad in blue stone next to the glass workshop.

The museum continues the village’s industrial history. Its collection brings together popular craft pieces called “bousillés”, which Sars-Poteries glassworkers made between 1801 and 1937 from glass offcuts, along with works by contemporary artists from around the world.

The permanent route is complemented by temporary exhibitions, glassblowing and lampworking demonstrations, workshops and a sculpture garden. The museum is a cultural facility of the Nord department and holds the “Musée de France” label.
