About the museum

The Musée des géomètres-experts is housed in the Maison du Géomètre on the cours Charlemagne in Lyon. It was created in 1989 and extended in November 1996. It is a museum for the profession itself, devoted to the history of the géomètre-expert's trade.

The collection includes more than 200 items: surveying, cosmography, drawing and drafting instruments. It is complemented by a library holding books on the profession, maps and old surveyors' plans, judicial expert reports and dictionaries of local and professional usage.
