About the museum
The Musée des jouets de Montauban was born from the meeting of a passionate collector, Gérard Misrai, who owned an important collection of antique toys, and a business owner, Michèle Gualino, who had vacant premises. It opened in December 2016 and is run by a team of volunteers.
The collections bring together toys from the 19th and 20th centuries: figurines and toy soldiers of all materials, dolls, doll's tea sets and teddy bears, construction toys such as Meccano, board games, electric trains, some more than a hundred years old, and racing car tracks.
The museum has grown over the years. In 2021, the Club des amis du Meccano gave it a model of the Sagrada Família in Meccano; in 2023 it received an important collection of Barbie dolls; in 2024 it expanded by 120 m² and acquired three racing car circuits. The volunteers accompany visitors, telling anecdotes that link the history of toys to wider history.
