About the museum
The Musée Soieries Brochier is housed in the Grand Hôtel-Dieu in Lyon, on the Quai Jules Courmont. It presents the history of the Brochier Soieries house, run by the Brochier family for four generations and active for around 130 years, as well as its links with major artists and leading fashion designers of the 20th century.
The new exhibition, opening on October 1, 2026, follows the house through its silk, gold and silver fabrics, from the earliest textiles to today’s technical textiles. It features creations made for major names in fashion, works by Miró and Calder woven by the house, a monumental piece by artist Thomas Henriot woven in gold thread on a Jacquard loom, and fabrics designed for the designer Rick Owens.
The house also runs a frame-printing workshop on Rue Romarin, which keeps alive by hand a process invented in Lyon in 1920 and holds around 3,000 frames, some dating from the 1950s.
