About the museum
The Bueil museum is a municipal museum that opened in 2014. It bears the name of filmmaker Jean Delannoy and also holds archives from his 69-year career: author’s prints, annotated scripts, about fifty posters, manuscripts, correspondence with artists and his awards. These archives were assembled with the help of the Friends of Jean Delannoy association.
The permanent display comprises two spaces. The Espace Jean Delannoy traces the great years of postwar French cinema through his films, arranged by theme. The Espace des métiers et techniques de l’image tells the history of cinema and photography through its tools and professions.
The collections include 226 film prints, from 8 mm to 35 mm, about 3,000 production stills, nearly 500 books and more than 100 projectors, including a 1915 magic lantern. Each season, the museum presents a temporary exhibition.
