About the museum
The Musée du Revard opened in December 2016 on Mont Revard in Savoy. It was devoted to reverse glass painting, also called “fixé sous verre”, a technique in which the paint is applied to the back of a sheet of glass. It later moved to Auvergne: since April 2026, the Musée du Fixé sous verre de Job has continued its work in the Puy-de-Dôme, next to the château de Job.
The collection comprises nearly 700 works from four continents, spanning about four centuries up to today. It includes the triptych “Résurrection”, painted in 2022 by the Swiss artist Ulrich Stückelberger to music by Gustav Mahler. The museum also showcases major names in contemporary reverse glass painting, such as Anne Boille, Chanath, Nicole Gaulier, Frédéric Hégo, Michel Houvet, Didier Merlin, David Roland and Fride Wirtl Walser.
The museum has a tea room and a bookshop where it sells its publications. Its first season in Job ended in 2026, and it will reopen on June 4, 2027, with the exhibition “Inspiration Japon”. The site also keeps the archives of the Musée du Revard.
