About the museum
Soucht was a capital of Lorraine clog-making: after World War II, the village had more than sixty clog makers. The first museum was set up in 1985 in a former clog workshop, later replaced by a larger building.
The current museum is an all-wood building of high environmental quality (HQE). It presents every aspect of clog making, by hand and by machine, with demonstrations, collections, films and slide shows.
More than 260 kinds of French and foreign clogs are on display. The tours are led by volunteers from the museum association and end with a film about the trade. Visitors can try on clogs for free during the visit.
