About the museum
The Musée éclaté in Cardaillac is a village museum whose rooms are spread across a neighborhood around the Place de la Tour. A team of volunteers runs the route and presents the economic and daily life of the village's inhabitants in the last century, in authentic settings.
The itinerary includes the Maison du sémalier, the chestnut-drying house, the prune-drying kiln, the bread oven, the walnut-oil mill and its press, an early 20th-century classroom and the clogmaker's workshop (saboterie). In the saboterie, exhibitions of old toys, sculptures and paintings complement the visit.
The museum was founded in 1984 and received a gold tourism medal in 2007. Visits are made with the accompaniment of volunteer guides.
