About the museum
The Musée historique de Kaysersberg occupies a house dating from 1521 in the former imperial town of Kaysersberg, at 62 rue du Général de Gaulle.
The collections combine religious art and regional archaeology. Notable items include a Vierge ouvrante (opening Madonna) from 1380, a 15th-century Christ of the Palms and sculptures, along with archaeological finds from prehistory to the Roman period, including a group of Neolithic axes. The museum also presents medieval weapons, unusual objects, and testimony to folk arts and traditions.
The museum is open to the public free of charge in summer; outside this period, visits are by appointment only.
