About the museum

Vieille-Brioude was the most important wine-producing commune in the region. The vine museum, housed in a traditional building beside the church, traces the history of the winegrowers of Haute-Loire through old tools, photographs and testimonies.

The visit explores everyday life in the vineyard: the cultivation of the vine, winemaking and the place of wine in rural life. It continues in the museum garden, which overlooks the River Allier and offers views of the valley.

This museum garden is the result of the work of volunteers who actively look after the site.
