About the museum

The Musée du Patrimoine de Saint-Vulbas is run by the town together with the association “Patrimoine, culture et traditions”, made up of passionate volunteers. The project was announced in the local press in 2017 under this name, and the museum was inaugurated on September 18, 2022, during the Heritage Days.

Located in Marcilleux, it occupies 600 m² across three rooms: a main hall with tools and books, the main room “Michel Blayon” with tractors, farm machinery and tools, and a workshop room with tools and machines.

Volunteers meet once a week to repair and restore old objects such as ploughs, tools and heavy motorised machinery. To ensure restoration faithful to the original condition, they dismantle parts from existing equipment and look for old parts. The collection evokes rural life in the Ain between 1900 and 1950, with craft demonstrations, notably machines for making clogs and the work of the woodturner.
