About the museum
The Tacot des Lacs is run by the Association du Tacot des Sables de Bourron. Enthusiasts came together to revive a small railway that once carried sand between forests, lakes and villages before it stopped running.
The association restores and operates wagons and locomotives on a former sand-quarry line, in the middle of the forest and the ponds of the Clarette. The collection includes small regional industrial trains and military trains from the First World War, some of which are listed as Monuments historiques.
Guided tours are led by volunteers. The site presents itself as an open-air museum and invites visitors on a train ride, with a visit to the depot for groups.
