About the museum
Until April 1945, the history of Gartz was presented in the city museum in the Stettiner Tor. The exhibits from that time were lost in the chaos of the postwar years or went to other museums. The wish to re-establish a museum here met with strong support and encouragement among the people of Gartz.
Today the Ackerbürgermuseum, housed in the former gatekeeper's house and a half-timbered house at the listed Stettiner Tor, shows life in an Ackerbürger town: citizens who, alongside their trades, also farmed land and so secured their livelihood. The museum explains this way of life and the history of the old Pomeranian town, known for its almost completely preserved town wall and St. Stephen's Church.
The local tourist information is located in the same building.
