About the museum
The Bäckereimuseum (Bakery Museum) is on Münzgasse in Oberwesel on the Middle Rhine and was set up in 1985. It is housed in an original bakery that had been used for the baking trade since the early 19th century. The operator is H. J. Hennrich.
On display are an old Königswinterer oven, in which the operator still bakes bread on special occasions, as well as dough mixers, baking tins, sieves, and other equipment from three centuries. On the upper floor, a fully furnished journeymen's room has been preserved, where apprentices once lived permanently. The original sales window facing the street shows how baked goods were handed directly to customers.
