About the museum

Rainer Klink opened the museum in September 1985 in the former bus depot of his grandparents Paul and Helene Schnaith in Tübingen's Weststadt district. At first it was called "Motormuseum" and displayed the collection on around 200 square meters; it later became the "Auto · Zweirad · Spielzeug Museum" (car, two-wheeler and toy museum). In 1991 Klink gave up his civil service job and took over the family bus company, founded in 1922.

Step by step, the exhibition grew until 2017 to four floors covering about 1,200 square meters. On display are classic cars, racing and sports cars, motorcycles and bicycles spanning more than a hundred years, as well as an extensive collection of historic toys, model railroads and steam models. Special pieces include a world-record car, a wooden wall of death for motorcycle stunt riders and an American dragster.

In 2021 the Bistro Büssinghalle, with a terrace on the Ammer river, was added in a historic half-timbered hall. The museum is still owned by the Klink family; regular events such as Steam Day on January 6, classic car rallies and a meet-up of historic bicycles are part of the program.
