About the museum
The Braun Design Sammlung Ettel goes back to the art teacher Werner Ettel, who spent years collecting products from the electrical appliance manufacturer Braun. From 2000 he first made the collection accessible to the public at the Zitadelle Spandau. Since January 2013 it has been on view in a former gallery on Elberfelder Straße in Moabit.
The collection shows almost all the products Braun developed between 1930 and 2000: from calculators, table lighters and shavers to kitchen appliances, radios, televisions and stereo systems. The objects are not kept in display cases; they stand on tables and are stacked along the walls like everyday items. Association members can have devices switched on on request.
The exhibition is run by the non-profit association Braun Design Freunde e. V., which aims to archive, collect and show all products made by Braun. Parts of the collection have also been shown elsewhere, for example at the Bröhan-Museum in 2021.
