Dat Otto Huus

Museum about the comedian Otto Waalkes on the Emden Delft – photos, film props, awards, and Ottifanten shop on two floors.

Opening hoursAdmission from €4

About the museum

Otto Waalkes opened the Otto Huus in Emden in 1987 so that a piece of him can always be found in East Frisia, even in his absence. The house stands on the Delft, right at the start of the pedestrian zone between the town hall and the train station.

On two floors, the museum shows photos and mementos from Otto's life, props from his movies and stage tours, and his prizes and awards. Otto's films play in a cinema area.

During the pandemic break, the exhibition was completely redesigned: a Frisian landscape with dike, villages, and the Pilsum Lighthouse now runs through both floors. New props were added, for example from the film "Catweazle", as well as a small studio recalling Otto's work as a painter. On the first floor is a fan shop with Ottifanten items, and above the museum is a vacation apartment.
