Dauphin-Fahrzeugsammlung
Private classic car collection of the Dauphin family in Hersbruck: about 160 racing and sports cars and about 300 motorcycles, viewable by guided tour only.
About the museum
The collection goes back to the entrepreneurial couple Friedrich-Wilhelm and Elke Dauphin, who have been gathering technically and aesthetically significant automobiles and motorcycles for more than four decades; their daughter Antje also helped build it up. The family's stated aim is to share their own enthusiasm and to win over younger people in particular for historic vehicles.
The collection is housed in a former factory hall from the 1960s in the Hersbruck industrial area. On the premises, the family also runs the event venue "Dauphin Speed Event" with an event hall, lounge, and park grounds, so that many corporate and family celebrations take place right among the exhibits. Tours for individual guests and groups are organized by the Verein der Oldtimerfreunde Hersbruck (classic car friends' association), which is based in the same premises.
On about 4,000 square meters stand around 160 cars and about 300 two-wheelers, arranged by make and year of manufacture so that lines of technical and stylistic development can be followed. For the automobiles, the focus is on European racing and sports cars of the 1930s to 1980s, for example from Bugatti, Ferrari, or Porsche. The motorcycle collection is divided into road, sport, and racing machines, mostly from the 1920s to 1980s, with many models from the once important Nuremberg two-wheeler industry and makes such as NSU, Zündapp, Horex, Norton, or Vincent.
