About the museum
In the parsonage yard of Reichardtswerben stands a half-timbered house from the middle of the 17th century, of the Thuringian-Franconian type, with a covered gallery walkway facing the courtyard. In 1935 the diorama "Schlacht bei Roßbach" (Battle of Roßbach) was inaugurated there. It shows one of the decisive battles of the Seven Years' War (1756–1763), which took place on November 5, 1757 on the fields of Reichardtswerben.
Almost 4,500 tin figures in various uniforms depict parts of the fighting on about twenty square meters. The large diorama was built from 1933 to 1935 by Max Brauer, a senior teacher from Weißenfels who had already created a diorama of the Battle of Lützen. Besides the diorama, there are three further rooms that explain the events of the time in more detail.
Members of the local sponsoring association are glad to lead visitors through the small exhibition. At the Reichardtswerben "Spitze" (village point), a reduced replica of the monument to the Battle of Roßbach also stands.
