About the museum
The Dorfmuseum Grube is located in the middle of the village, in a residential house built in 1890 that was typical for Grube at the time. Since 1993 it has housed a folklore and early history collection that gives an insight into village life before the arrival of the technical age. The museum is run by the Heimat- und Kulturverein Grube e. V.
Highlights include a fully furnished bedroom from around 1900 and a school classroom from the 1930s. Other topics are the harvesting and processing of reed and the draining of Gruber See lake in 1938.
A special feature is a monitor in the museum that shows a live feed from the stork nest in the village; the storks return to Grube every year in March.
