About the museum
The Dorfmuseum Hoffeld is located in one of the well-preserved half-timbered houses in the village center, according to regional directories the oldest house in the village. Before the municipality acquired the building in the mid-1980s, a ten-member family had lived there for a long time.
The exhibition is devoted to the living conditions of simple people in the Eifel villages and shows how cramped and arduous the daily life of farming families was in the 19th century. In front of the house stands a fountain built from columns of the nearby Hoffeld basalt quarry.
