About the museum

The Dotzheimer Museum opened in June 1985 in the renovated rooms of the former Dotzheim police station, run by the Heimat- und Verschönerungsverein Dotzheim (local history and beautification association). It is on Römergasse next to the old town hall, directly at Pfarrer-Luja-Platz. The association has been dedicated to local history since 1977 and runs the museum on a volunteer basis.

Eight exhibition rooms are spread over two floors. The first floor focuses on the history and political influences of the village, as well as crafts, industry, and inns. The second floor features Dotzheim's clubs, traces of the Romans with a bust of Emperor Severus Alexander, wine growing, transport with an original ticket cabinet, and a middle-class and farm-style kitchen from the second half of the 19th century. There is also a cobbler's workshop and a display on the Langenschwalbach railway. The emphasis is on the period from the late 19th century to the incorporation into Wiesbaden in 1928.

Several times a year, the museum presents special exhibitions. An audio guide in German and English leads through the permanent exhibition in about 30 minutes and can also be used from home.
