About the museum
The Erlebniswelt Blockflöte is the museum of the Mollenhauer recorder workshop in Fulda and is located right at the company's headquarters on Weichselstraße. It is aimed at recorder enthusiasts of all ages, from school classes and families to playing groups, teaching staffs and students.
The museum is divided into several themed areas: it tells the story of the recorder, explains which materials are needed for construction, shows in acoustic experiments how the sound is produced, and looks at the history of the Mollenhauer company. An exhibition room shows the variety of instruments made in the workshop.
On the workshop tour, visitors see how a recorder is made: the woods, tools and machines, and the individual steps up to the finished instrument. Instruments can be purchased in the attached B1 shop.
