Temporarily closed
Temporarily closed (expected until 2027). The museum has been closed since June 21, 2026, because it is moving to a new building that is three times as large. Reopening at Neuenkirchener Straße 20 is planned for spring 2027.

About the museum

The Feuerwehrmuseum Salzbergen is run by the museum association of the Salzbergen volunteer fire brigade. At its previous location on Overhuesweg, it showed about 25 fire vehicles, turntable ladders and hand-operated pumps across roughly 800 square meters, along with thousands of other exhibits. Highlights included a steam fire engine from 1901 and an extensive helmet collection.

Since June 21, 2026, the museum has been closed because its vehicles and exhibits are moving to a new building at Neuenkirchener Straße 20. The new site is three times as large; over 2,500 square meters are planned as a hands-on museum for families, kindergartens, schools and youth and children's fire brigades. An open day during the move was held at the new site during the Long Night of Museums in August 2026. Reopening is planned for spring 2027.
