About the museum
The Verein Frohsinn, a Bad Windsheim folk costume group with roots going back to 1875, acquired in 1985 from the land consolidation authority a farmstead from the 17th century in Oberntief that had gone unused for decades. With a great deal of volunteer work by its members, it became a farm museum.
The half-timbered residential house displays furniture, folk costumes and a shoemaker's workshop; an outbuilding holds tools, machines, prams and early washing machines. The barn houses a collection of historic Bulldog tractors which, according to the association, is unique in Franconia; there are also agricultural implements, harvesting machines, ploughs and vintage vehicles. The museum is run by the association on a voluntary basis.
