The Heimatmuseum Dahme/Mark was founded in 1905 and is considered the oldest museum in today's Teltow-Fläming district. After several moves, it has been housed since 1978 in a listed half-timbered house on Töpferstraße, built in the 18th century, which also houses the library.
The permanent exhibition is devoted to costumes, customs, and the rural life of the 18th and 19th centuries in the Niederer Fläming. It also presents local crafts, in particular the once important cigar industry and blue-printing (Blaudruck), as well as the lively club life of the town. A special eye-catcher is the council chamber with carved furniture from the Baroque to the Neo-Renaissance.
Two famous sons of the town are honored: the chemist Otto Unverdorben, regarded as the first discoverer of aniline, who established the cigar industry locally, and the medallist Friedrich Wilhelm Kullrich, who designed coins for Prussia and later for the German Empire. The house also shows changing exhibitions and hosts lectures and other events.
