About the museum

The estate, built around 1632, was first a farmstead, later also a residence, and housed a craft business. The Heimatverein Emskirchen bought the listed house on Hindenburgstraße in the town center on June 23, 1986, and carefully restored it by 1989. From 2010 to 2012 the entire property was renovated from the ground up, and the museum reopened in 2013.

The displays focus on everyday objects from 1830 to 1960. On the ground floor, the kitchen, sleeping chamber and living room show farm life around 1900. Also on view are Bavaria's oldest knitting machine, farm tools in the barn section, a forge from the district of Brunn, and on the attic floor a shoemaker's workshop and a zither workshop from 1953 to 1972, along with a furnished dentist's practice from the 1950s.

There are also finds from the Stone Age and the Middle Ages, and documentation on the 1863 bridge construction over the Aurach. The museum is involved with the local schools. In autumn there is the series "Kunst im Museum", and at the Advent market on the first Sunday of Advent there is an exhibition on Advent or Christmas.
