About the museum
The Heimatmuseum goes back to a foundation around 1940 in a school building, then moved several times and was closed from 1985. It has been open again since 2007 at its present location on Rhinstraße. It is run by the Verein Stadtgeschichte Fehrbellin e. V., whose roughly 14 members run the museum on a voluntary basis.
The exhibition deals mainly with the Battle of Fehrbellin, the history of the fire brigade, the railway station, the churches, peat extraction, the schools, the Berlin–Hamburg postal route, and household and agriculture in the region. There is also an extensive collection of postcards from Fehrbellin and the surrounding area.
Alongside the exhibition in the building there is an exhibition in an outdoor area. Once a year, in May, the association holds an open day.
