About the museum
Since 1967 the museum has been housed in Ferndorf's former elementary school, the Rote Schule. Only one of the original classrooms has survived, and that is where history enthusiasts now come to see the displays.
The exhibition ranges from early-history finds, including archaeological items up to 3,000 years old, to a film projector from 1935. Selected objects and documents show the village history and illustrate life and work between agriculture, industry and craft. These include splendid furniture and the workshops of local craftsmen from three centuries.
The museum is run by the team of the Verein zur Pflege der Dorfgemeinschaft in Ferndorf (association for cultivating community life in Ferndorf).
