About the museum
The Heimatmuseum Glindow is housed in the so-called "Kochschen Haus", a listed Büdnerhaus (smallholder's house) in the Glindower Kietz that is more than 300 years old. It is first mentioned in 1769 in an inheritance deed in the name of Gottfried Dürre. The last owner, Anneliese Koch, bequeathed the property and house to the municipality of Glindow on condition that a museum be set up there.
The municipality had the building restored and handed it over to the Heimatverein Glindow e.V., which has looked after and furnished the house since its opening in 1998. The association members research local history, collect records, put on exhibitions and publish their own works, including the Glindower Almanach and a Festschrift (anniversary publication) for the museum's 25th anniversary.
On display are furniture, crockery, implements, photos and old pictures, most of them provided by residents of Glindow. A special attraction is the original, soot-blackened black kitchen, where food was once cooked over an open fire and the smoke escaped through an opening in the ceiling. Each season has its own theme; in 2026 it is "Heimat & Kräuter".
