Heimatmuseum Hünstetten
Municipal museum in the Bechtheim parsonage from 1602: Hünstetten's history from the Neolithic to Burg Wallrabenstein and village childhood.
About the museum
The Heimatmuseum Hünstetten is one of the newest museums in the region: the municipality of Hünstetten opened it in March 2025 in the village of Bechtheim. It brings together the history of all ten of the municipality's villages and builds on groundwork by the Historischer Verein Hünstetten (historical society) and the municipal archive; the exhibition was designed by a volunteer working group.
The museum is housed in the former Protestant parsonage from 1602, a listed building in the village center opposite the parish church. On the first floor is a museum meeting space where lectures, guided tours, and, on opening days, a museum café take place.
The themed rooms range from the municipality's oldest finds from the Neolithic (Michelsberg culture) to slate mining, Burg Wallrabenstein castle and Count Walram, the two world wars, and the history of the village schools. Especially vivid is the room on village childhood in the 1950s and 1960s, where visitors are allowed to try out many of the toys. QR codes lead to more in-depth information.
